❓ Frequently Asked Questions
What is the 75% attendance rule in India?›
Most Indian universities and colleges (including those under UGC, AICTE and CBSE-affiliated schools) require a minimum of 75% attendance to be allowed to sit for end-semester or board exams. Some institutions set it at 80% or 85%, and a few permit 65% with a medical certificate. Always confirm your own institution's rule.
How is attendance percentage calculated?›
Attendance % = (classes attended ÷ total classes held) × 100. For example, attending 45 of 60 classes gives 45 ÷ 60 × 100 = 75%. This tool also tells you how many classes you can still miss, or how many you must attend, to reach your target.
How many classes can I bunk and stay at 75%?›
If you are already above 75%, you can miss whole classes until your ratio drops to exactly 75%. The formula for safe bunks is floor((attended × 100 − 75 × total) ÷ 75). This tool calculates it automatically for any target you choose.
I'm below 75% — can I still recover?›
Yes, if enough classes remain. You need to attend a run of classes with no further misses. The number required is ceil((75 × total − 100 × attended) ÷ 25) for a 75% target. If that number exceeds the classes left in your term, recovery for this term may not be mathematically possible — speak to your faculty about medical or duty leave.
Does medical leave count toward attendance?›
Policies vary. Many institutions grant attendance relaxation (often down to 65%) for documented medical reasons, sports, or official duty. Submit your certificate to the department before exams. This tool calculates raw attendance; adjust your target if your college grants relaxation.
