Before you send it

  • Do not sign the cheque, and do not write an amount or a name in “Pay”.
  • Your name, account number, IFSC and the MICR line at the bottom must stay readable — they are why a cancelled cheque is asked for.
  • If the office wants the paper cheque, draw two lines across it with a pen and write CANCELLED between them yourself.
  • What a bank, employer, EPFO or a portal accepts is their rule — check their form for the file type and size.
