How to Write a Self-Declaration

Keep it factual and in the first person. State who you are, the fact you are declaring, and a closing line affirming that the statement is true to the best of your knowledge.

• Full name and relation (S/o, D/o, W/o)
• Address
• The specific declaration, numbered if multiple
• A truth affirmation clause
• Place, date and signature

Accepted In Place Of Certificates

Many Indian processes accept a self-declaration where obtaining an official certificate is slow — for instance an address self-declaration for bank KYC, or an income self-declaration for a college scholarship. Always confirm the format your authority expects.
