What Form 29 and Form 30 are

When a vehicle is sold, the seller reports the sale to the RTO in Form 29 (made in duplicate), and the buyer applies for the transfer of ownership in Form 30 — within 14 days if the vehicle is registered in the same State, or 45 days if it is registered in another State, with the no objection certificate papers (Document B). Questions people ask

Who fills Form 29 and who fills Form 30?

The seller fills Form 29 (notice of transfer) and Part I of Form 30. The buyer fills Part II of Form 30. If there is a loan, the financier signs the consent.

How many copies of Form 29 are needed?

Form 29 is made in duplicate — this page prints both copies. The registering authority returns the endorsed duplicate.

What is the time limit for Form 30?

Within 14 days of the sale for a vehicle registered in the same State, and within 45 days for a vehicle registered in another State (Parivahan Sewa).
