Good photos make good prints

  • Lay the card flat on a dark table, in daylight, and take the photo from straight above — not at an angle — so the card is a rectangle, not a slanted shape.
  • Fill most of the photo with the card and avoid shine from a light or the flash.
  • Then drag the box to the card’s edges. The preview under it shows exactly what will print.

Which cards?

PAN card, voter ID (EPIC), driving licence (smart card), vehicle RC (smart card), and other cards of ATM-card size. A card that is a different size — an old paper voter ID, for example — will print at ATM-card size too, so check that this suits the place you are giving it to.

This page prints a copy for your own use, like a photocopy. It does not make a card that replaces the original. For e-Aadhaar use Aadhaar Card Print; for an upload, PAN card to PDF, voter ID to PDF or DL to PDF.

Questions people ask

What size does the card print at?
85.6 × 54 mm — the size of an ATM card, which is also the size of the PAN card, the new voter ID and smart-card driving licences and RCs — when you print the PDF at 100% (“Actual size”) on A4.
Can I print the front and back together?
Yes. Add the back as a second file. “Side by side” puts the two halves next to each other so you can fold the paper into one double-sided card; “Apart” gives two pieces to cut.
My PDF has the front and back on one page.
Choose it as the front. If the page shows the two sides next to each other, the page finds both and puts the back in its own box — check both boxes before printing.
My photo is crooked or at an angle.
Turn it with Rotate and drag the box to the card’s edges. A photo taken from straight above, on a dark table, gives the cleanest print.
Is a printed copy valid as an ID?
It is a copy, like a photocopy — for your file, a form or a counter that accepts a copy. It does not replace the original card. For e-Aadhaar, UIDAI accepts a paper print-out; use the Aadhaar Card Print page for that.
Is my card uploaded anywhere?
No. The photos and PDFs are read and printed in your browser; nothing is sent anywhere.
