Date and place

Everything you type stays in your browser — nothing is uploaded or saved.

Print, sign and give it at the police station; keep the copy they stamp or the report number.

After you give the complaint

  • Keep the police copy / acknowledgement (FIR or lost report). You need it for the next steps.
  • Lost phone: get a new SIM for the same number from your operator, then block the phone at Sanchar Saathi → Block lost/stolen mobile. The CEIR user manual lists what you need: the police complaint (FIR/LR) details, your ID proof, the purchase bill if you have it, and the new SIM for the OTP; you get an 18-digit request ID — keep it to unblock the phone if it is found (CEIR manual, checked 22 Oct 2026).
  • Lost documents: apply for duplicates with each issuing office, attaching the police copy where they ask for it. Many state police websites also take lost reports online.
  • Stolen rather than lost? Say so clearly — and ask what the police will register.

Kaise use karein

  1. Chunein: mobile, documents ya dono — aur English ya Hindi.
  2. Thana, apni details, kab-kahan gum hua, IMEI ya documents bharein.
  3. PDF print karke thane mein dein; copy sambhal kar rakhein aur Sanchar Saathi par phone block karein.

Dhyan dein

IMEI phone ke dabbe ya bill par hota hai. Aadhaar ka poora number zaroori nahi — last 4 digits kaafi hain.

Questions people ask

How do I write a complaint to the police for a lost mobile?
Address it to the SHO of the police station where it was lost; give your name and address, the date, time and place, the phone’s model, number and IMEI, and ask for a copy of the complaint so you can block the phone on CEIR. Choose “Lost / stolen mobile” above and the letter is written for you, in English or Hindi.
Where do I find my phone’s IMEI number?
On the phone’s box and on the purchase bill. It is a 15-digit number; dual-SIM phones have two.
How do I block a lost phone after the complaint?
Get a new SIM for your number, then use “Block lost/stolen mobile” on sancharsaathi.gov.in with the police complaint details and your ID. Keep the 18-digit request ID — you need it to unblock the phone if it is found.
Should I write my full Aadhaar number?
The last 4 digits are usually enough in a lost report; carry a copy if the police ask for it.
Is my data uploaded?
No. The letter is made in your browser and the PDF is created on your device.
