Why does my photo show sideways on a government website?
Phone photos store a hidden “turn” setting that some portals ignore. Saving the photo here writes it upright, so it shows correctly everywhere.
Does it lower the quality?
Only a little for JPG (saved at high quality). PNG keeps every pixel. Very large photos are kept up to 6000 pixels on the long side.
