Know the reason first

A bank freezes or blocks an account for different reasons — KYC not updated, no use for a long time, or an order from the police, a court or the tax department. For KYC and inoperative accounts the branch can act on your documents. If it was frozen on an order, only that authority can release it — the letter asks the bank to tell you who issued it.
