Before you sign
Write down exactly what work is included, who gives the material, the amount or rates, the stages of payment and the dates — most disputes start where these were not written. Attach the drawing and the list of materials, signed by both. Building permission, labour and tax rules are separate questions: ask your local body, engineer or CA. For a large job, have a lawyer read the agreement.
Stamp paper and signing
Whether this needs stamp paper, and of what value, depends on your State and on the document — ask the stamp vendor, a notary or a lawyer. Tick "Printing on stamp paper?" to leave the space at the top of page 1. This is a draft in plain words: for a large amount or anything you may have to rely on in court, have a lawyer read it first.
