How a panchnama is used
A panchnama records what respectable local people (panchas) saw at a spot — damage, a boundary, the state of a house — signed by them. Offices such as the patwari, panchayat, police or an insurer may ask for one, and some have their own format; use theirs if they do. Write only what the panchas actually saw.
