Take a good passport photo at home
Stand about a metre in front of a plain white or light wall; face a window so light falls evenly on your face.
Ask someone to take the photo at your eye level, from about 1.5 metres, without zoom — no selfies at arm’s length.
Look straight at the camera, mouth closed, eyes open; no cap or dark glasses; hair away from your eyes.
Then crop it here so the top of your head and your chin sit on the guide lines.

What is the size of a passport size photo?
35 × 45 mm (3.5 × 4.5 cm) is the common size for passport and visa prints in India, and it is the default here. Some forms and countries ask for other sizes — the US visa, for example, needs 2 × 2 inches (51 × 51 mm). Always use the size your form states.
What size is a US visa photo?
The US State Department asks for 2 × 2 inches (51 × 51 mm), with the head 50–69% of the photo height, on a plain white or off-white background, taken in the last 6 months. The digital file is a 600 × 600 pixel JPEG of at most 240 KB. Choose “US visa 2 × 2 in”.
Can I make a passport photo with my phone?
Yes. Take a well-lit, front-facing photo against a plain light wall (ideally someone else takes it at eye level), then crop it here so your head sits between the guide lines. Download the single photo for online forms, or the print sheet for a photo shop.
Does it remove or change the background?
Not yet. It keeps your photo as it is — so start with a plain white or light wall behind you. You can adjust brightness and contrast.
Is my photo uploaded anywhere?
No. Cropping, resizing and the print sheet are all made in your browser. Your photo never leaves your device.
