When to lock a PDF

  • Bank statements, salary slips, ID copies and marksheets you send by email or WhatsApp.
  • Send the password separately — by phone or another app — not in the same message.

Forgot a password you set yourself on an e-Aadhaar or statement and need it gone? Unlock PDF removes a password you know. Want to write “Only for KYC” on it too? Add a watermark.

How do I put a password on a PDF for free?
Choose the PDF, type a password twice and press Lock PDF. The new copy opens only with that password; your original file is not changed.
Can I stop printing or copying?
Yes — tick “Do not allow printing” or “Do not allow copying the text”. Most PDF apps follow these settings, though some programs can ignore them.
What if I forget the password?
Nobody can open the locked copy without it — not even us. Keep the original file, or write the password down somewhere safe.
My PDF already has a password. Can I change it?
Yes. Type the old password to open it, then set the new one. The saved copy uses only the new password.
Is my PDF uploaded?
No. The PDF is locked in your browser; nothing is sent anywhere.
