The donor gives property out of love and affection, without payment, and the donee accepts it — both sign, with two witnesses. For money or movable items between family members, many people keep a simple signed deed. For land or a house, the deed is usually registered.

Registration: documents about land or a house often have to be registered at the sub-registrar's office, with stamp duty that depends on the State. Ask the sub-registrar's office or a lawyer before you sign.
