How it's calculated: Gross speed = keystrokes ÷ 5 ÷ minutes. Net speed = gross speed − mistakes ÷ minutes. A mistake is a whole word typed wrong, including extra or missing letters. Each exam has its own rules, so treat this as practice, not an official score.

How is typing speed (WPM) calculated here?
Every 5 keystrokes count as one word, including spaces. Gross speed is keystrokes ÷ 5 ÷ minutes. Net speed subtracts one word for every mistake per minute. Accuracy is correct words out of all words you completed.
What counts as a mistake?
A word that does not exactly match the passage, including a wrong capital letter, missing punctuation, or an extra or missing letter. If time runs out in the middle of a word, that unfinished word is not counted against you.
Can I practise with my own passage?

Does this work on a phone?
Yes, but typing tests for exams are taken on a computer keyboard, so practise on a computer for a realistic speed.
